How to send a fax by email
Compose a new email
Open Gmail, Outlook, Apple Mail — any email app on any device.
Address it to the fax number
In the To field, type the recipient's fax number followed by @faxseal.com — e.g. [email protected]
Attach your file
Attach a PDF, JPG, PNG, or TXT file using the paperclip (Attach file) — not a Drive or Dropbox share button. Share buttons only insert a link FaxSeal cannot open.
Add subject & message (optional)
Your subject line and message body become the fax cover page automatically — no extra steps.
Hit send
FaxSeal receives the email, deducts credits based on page count and destination, and faxes the PDF. You get a confirmation email on delivery — with a certified receipt PDF and SHA-256 document hash.
To address format
📎 Always use the paperclip — not Drive or Dropbox share buttons
Google Drive
Use Gmail's paperclip → Attach file and browse to your Drive file. Do not use the Drive icon in compose — it inserts a link, not the file.
Dropbox
Use Gmail's paperclip → Attach file and browse to Dropbox in the file picker. Do not share from the Dropbox app — it inserts a link, not the file.

What email app does this work with?
Any email app — Gmail, Outlook, Apple Mail, Yahoo Mail, Thunderbird, or any app that can send email with a PDF attachment. Even automated tools like Zapier or Make.
What format should the To address be?
Use the full fax number (with country code) followed by @faxseal.com. Example: [email protected]. The + prefix also works: [email protected].
Do I need a FaxSeal account?
Yes — the email address you send from must match a FaxSeal account with credits. Sign up free at faxseal.com/login and add credits. Your sending email and account email must match exactly.
Does my email subject and message get included?
Yes. If you include a subject or message body, FaxSeal automatically prepends a cover page to your fax with the date, recipient number, your email address, subject, and message — just like a traditional fax cover sheet.
What happens if I have no credits?
FaxSeal replies to your email immediately with a link to buy credits. Your fax is not sent and no charge is made. Once you have credits, simply send the email again.
What happens if the fax fails to deliver?
FaxSeal retries automatically up to 3 times. If all attempts fail, your credit is refunded and you receive a failure notification by email.
Can I fax internationally?
Yes. Include the country code in the fax number — e.g. [email protected] for a UK number. International faxes cost 2–3 credits depending on destination.
Can I attach a file from Google Drive or Dropbox?
Yes — but use the paperclip (Attach file) in Gmail, not the Drive icon or Dropbox share button. The Drive icon and Dropbox share button insert a link into your email; FaxSeal needs the actual file attached. In Gmail on mobile or desktop, tap the paperclip, choose "Attach file", and browse to your Drive or Dropbox file from there.
Is there a file size limit?
PDF, JPG, PNG, and TXT files up to 20MB are supported. JPG and PNG images are automatically converted to PDF before sending. Word docs and other formats are not supported — export to PDF first.
