Who uses an anonymous fax inbox?

Privacy-first document collection for professionals and organizations

📰

Investigative journalists

Publish your inbox link instead of a fax number. Sources submit documents — you receive them as faxes, and sources stay anonymous.

⚖️

Attorneys & law firms

Accept intake documents and evidence submissions from clients without exposing your direct fax line or email address.

🏥

Healthcare providers

Let patients and referral partners submit forms through a clean public link — documents arrive directly at your fax number.

🏢

HR & compliance teams

Collect confidential reports, disclosures, or applications without creating an email paper trail tied to a specific person.

🔒

Whistleblower tiplines

Create a submission channel that accepts documents without requiring the sender to create an account or reveal their identity.

🏛️

Non-profits & advocacy

Accept petitions, signed forms, and supporting documents from members and supporters through a simple shareable link.

🔗

Developer integrations

Receive an inbox.submission webhook the moment a document arrives — pipe it into Slack, Zapier, or your own system in real time.

👥

Team workspaces

Create a shared org-level tipline. All admins are notified, credits draw from the team pool, and no single person owns the handle.

How it works

1

Get a dedicated fax number

You need a permanent US fax number on your FaxSeal account — this is where submissions are delivered.

2

Choose your handle

Pick a short, memorable handle (e.g. "your-name"). Your public link becomes faxseal.com/inbox/your-name.

3

Share the link

Post it on your website, business card, or social profile. Anyone with the link can submit a PDF — no account required.

4

Documents arrive as faxes

Each submission is automatically faxed to your dedicated number. It appears in your inbox just like any other received fax.

Need a dedicated fax number first?

An anonymous inbox requires a dedicated FaxSeal fax number — that is where submissions are delivered. A dedicated number also gives you a permanent searchable inbox, Auto-Forward, and OCR text extraction on every inbound fax.

Frequently asked questions

Does the sender need a FaxSeal account?

No. Anyone can submit a document by visiting your public inbox link. No login, no sign-up, no credit card. They just upload a PDF and optionally enter a name or message.

Does the sender learn my fax number or email?

Never. Your fax number and email are completely hidden from senders. They only see your handle URL. The document is quietly relayed to your fax number behind the scenes.

Where does the submitted document go?

Every submission triggers an automatic fax to your dedicated FaxSeal fax number. It lands in your regular inbox as a received fax — with a cover sheet showing the sender's name and message if they provided one. You also receive an email notification with the sender's details the moment the submission arrives.

What does it cost?

Each submission costs the same as sending a standard fax: 1 credit for 1–5 pages, 2 credits for 6–15 pages, 3 credits for 16–30 pages (US/Canada). Credits are deducted when the fax is queued. If your credit balance hits zero, the inbox temporarily stops accepting submissions until you top up.

Do I need a dedicated fax number?

Yes. Submissions are delivered by faxing your dedicated number — that is what makes the relay possible. A dedicated number is available on FaxSeal's personal and business plans.

Can I pause my inbox without deleting it?

Yes. You can pause your inbox at any time from the dashboard. When paused, the public link stays reserved but new submissions are rejected with a "not accepting submissions" message. Resume whenever you're ready.

Is my inbox link permanent?

Yes — your handle is yours as long as you keep it. You can change the handle at any time (the old link stops working) or delete it entirely.

Are submissions really anonymous?

From your perspective, the sender's name, email, and message are optional — they may submit with no identifying information at all. From the sender's perspective, your contact details are never revealed. The fax cover sheet shows whatever the sender chose to include.

What file types can senders submit?

Senders can submit PDF files up to the standard file size limit. PDFs are the universal format for fax delivery — any document (signed forms, scans, reports) saved as a PDF works.

How is this different from just publishing a fax number?

When you publish your fax number, anyone who has it can fax you directly — forever. Your inbox link is a layer of indirection: it works as a submission channel but your underlying number stays private. You can also pause or delete the link without changing your fax number.

Can a team or organization have its own inbox handle?

Yes. Team workspaces on FaxSeal can have a dedicated inbox handle that belongs to the organization — not any individual. When a document is submitted, it is faxed to the team's fax number, credits come from the team pool, and all team owners and admins are notified by email. Only owners and admins can manage the team inbox handle.

Can I receive submission notifications via webhook?

Yes. API tokens with a webhook URL receive an inbox.submission event the moment a document is submitted — including handle, sender details, page count, and fax job ID. This lets you integrate with Slack, Zapier, or your own systems in real time. For team inboxes, only tokens belonging to owner or admin members receive the webhook.
